Honda Will Develop The Successor of NSX

Great news for the lover of Honda’s sport cars. It seems like the NSX has been dug oout of their storage and plopped back on to the market to be the candidate for production. The president of the company, Takashi Ito, has announced that he is starting to develop the supercar. If you maybe forget, the supercar was previously put to its bed after the global economy gutted itself in year 2008. At that moment, the project was sailed under the HSV-010 moniker, and Honda went so far to campaign the version of the machine in the series of Japanese Super GT.

After that, the supercar market has all but exploded with new players. Mercedes-Benz comes into the market with their SLS AMG, Lexus came to the party with their high tech LFA, and other old timers like the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 and Nissan GT-R also take their own parts in the supercar territory.

The car was also known as the Acura NSX, and yesterday, Honda was ready to get the development rolling again. “I feel that we need to meet the demand from the public for a successor,” said Ito. Unfortunately, he didn’t mention about when will the car reach the market.

$ 33M Of EV Tax Credits For Buying Unqualified Vehicles

Will you include a bicycle in an electric vehicle? But how about the Hummer H3? These are some vehicles that the Americans claimed as hybrids, plug in electric, or alternative powered vehicles on their tax forms, according to USA Today. Beside that, the false claimants has managed to reach $ 33 million back from the federal government.

According to the daily, this $ 33 million figure is about 20 percent from the $ 163.9 million total that has been claimed under the tax credit programs until now. This information comes from a new report that was published by the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration which was found that the problem is on the IRS which seems to doesn’y have the adequate procedures required to ferret out on whether the claims qualify or don’t.

To respond to this report, the IRS said, “has already implemented measures to make sure that the problems highlighted in the report.” Okay, I think it is understandable, but with a getting money back for a bicycle? Bikes is actually lovable actually, but I don’t think that they are included in hybrid ‘cars’.

Yaris HSD Concept for Geneva Motor Show

Yaris HSD Concept for Geneva Motor Show

Toyota has revealed their big plans to wade the hybrid version of B segment in Europe. It seems that we will get a peek for the carmaker’s effort in this department at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. This Japanese manufacturer has already confirmed that they will unveil their Yaris HSD Concept later in March. Toyota is keeping the details of the concept for themselves for today, so there is only a little information about what kind of powertrain or fuel economy that the car will boast when it is being unveiled next month.

Toyota indeed said that their Yaris HSD Concept will use some very hybrid specific design cues, so you can expect some more than just Prius’ influence outside. This B segment car is one of the hottest auto markets in Europe. It means that Toyota might facing some uphill battle with the notion of the hybridized Yaris.

The consumers at the Old Country have been notoriously cold with the gasoline hybrids due to the popularity of its high efficiency diesel engine. Combine it with the difficulty of making an affordable hybrid drivetrain and Toyota will have to do some impressive tricks to make this car as a serious competitor in Europe.

Mercedes Benz SLK Unveiled In Stuttgart

Mercedes Benz has took the wraps of their new 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK Roadster in Stuttgart. It has totally redesigned, but it is really the Mercedes-Benz. The SLR McLaren based front hood is replaced with an aluminum capped with a more traditional upright radiator grille. There is also the side grilles at the front quarter panels for those who love the Benz roadsters in ’50s.

It is slightly wider and longer than its predecessor, but still it is an attractive package. The slippery wind drag coefficient is only 0.30, while the outgoing model had 0.32 cd. The other interesting feature is the uber cool Magic Sky Control center panel. The German engineers have come up with their optional trick glass panel that use LCD type technology. When it cuts UV, infrared, or visible light significantly, the panel won’t completely opaque.

Moreover, that roof transition will only takes some seconds, and it is initiated by a single tap on the overhead switch. The engine for the car will be the direct injected 3.5 liter V6 for the SLK 350 which is rated at 302 horsepower. The turbocharged and direct injected 1.8 liter four cylinder for SLK 250 will make 201 horsepower.
