Make Your Own Tattoo Online

Congratulations on deciding to get a tattoo! Its a great way to express who you are! But what do you do now? Are you going to get a flower, a cross, maybe a snake? A tattoo is something that you need to give alot of thought to. Don't forget, its going to be there forever! Do you want to always be proud of it or regret it later on? There are some really important things to consider once you've decided to get some ink.

Where am I going to put it?
Who is going to be seeing it?
What am I going to get?
What's it going to look like in 40 years?
Where do i get it?

These are all things you need to consider before finally getting your tattoo. They will make all the difference in the world down the line.

Where am I going to put it?

I dont think people give this enough thought when getting some ink. Know I now your artwork is an expression of you. You wont be conforming to society or hiding who you are. But remember that the you now, isnt going to be the same you in the future. Unfortunately we all get older. And you have to be mature enough to know, that you dont know where life may take you. How nice are you going to look when your all dressed up for some fancy, special occasion with a tattoo on your face? Or what is your potential boss going to think about the F--- You across your knuckles? These things might not matter today, but will they tomorrow?

The best places to get a tattoo, are the places you can choose to show if you want. Whether we like it or not, society does judge people on appearances. Is it worth loosing that great job over something you could have just placed in a better spot? And what if you have kids? How is that lady bug going to look when its stretched across your belly? Or after, when its not?

People tend to forget to consider clothing when deciding a good spot for ink. That cute flower on your butt looks like a frog peeking out of your panties! Or that great snake on your arm looks like a sausage sticking out when you wear shortsleeves! Think about where different types of clothing cover on your body. Dont forget to consider the seasons too. Summer clothes cover less body!

At the same time, choosing a good spot can enhance your artwork. Is it half cover by your pants or does it show off a good body part? Think long and hard about where your going to put it and how it will show in various situations.

Who is going to be seeing it?

You might have gotten your tattoo just for you, but you are going to want to show it off. What was the point in the first place if no one ever sees it? But you have to think about EVERYONE who might be seeing it! Will Gramma like the naked lady on your chest? Will your future wife? This might not be the message you wanted to send.

What am I going to get?

This is probably the hardest question to answer! Don't go and get your tattoo on a whim! The tattoo parlors have tons of great artwork on the walls and in their books. But these are there because they have the templates and they have done them before. How proud of your ink are you going to be when you see it on the homeless guy sleeping on the park bench? Your friends will never let you live that one down!

Your tattoo should have meaning to you personally, so why shouldnt it be made just for you? Consider what you want your tattoo to say about you. Do you want it to symbolize something about you? Should it represent something you've accomplished or been through? Is it a goal you want to achieve? Or is it a memorial to someone or something?

The artwork at the parlors arent completely useless. You can go in there with an idea of what you want, find something similar, and ask the artist to change it the way you want. Or you can take different parts of tattooes and have them put them together for you. They are called tattoo "artists" for a reason. They can usually do an amazing job freehanding something. Keep in mind if you do this, you will probably need to come back later so the artist has time to put your new piece together.

The best option I can recommend for deciding on your own personal artwork, is the thousands of websites out there! There are some great ones that allow you to design your own tattoo. Its also an endless supply of ideas that you might not have thought of. Finding your tattoo this way has many benefits. You get to take as long as you want to find something that really means something to you. You get to design it yourself, even if you have no artistic ability. And you end up with a design in your hand all ready to take with you to the tattoo parlor!

Now some people want to show their undying love for someone. Do we really have to think hard on this one? Your child will always be your child. Great, tattoo their name on you! But will your girlfriend/boyfriend always be?

What's it going to look like in 40 years?

Think of this? All our bodies change when we get older. How much are you going to like that amazing dragon when it looks like a mudslide down your body? How do you explain your naughty picture to your grandchild? How sweet is that satan going to look at church bingo? Think about it, do you eat the same foods now that you did when you were a kid? Or did your tastes change as you got older?

Where do I get it?

Getting your tattoo someplace good is very important. Did you spend all that time planning your tattoo to have someone mess it up? Or even worse, getting an infection from unclean practices! And remember, its forever! Word of mouth is the best source for getting a great tattoo! If you see someone with great artwork, ask them where they got it. And dont forget to ask about cost, and sanitary conditions. People will be more than willing to share their horror stories about a bad tattoo artist.

Go to the tattoo parlor yourself and watch them work. Is the work good? Are they changing their gloves between customers? Do you see them using new, sterile needles? Is the shop clean? Are they? A tattoo artist sneezing on a client is a bad sign! Ask the customers if they have had work done there before. And watch while your getting the tattoo to make sure its turning out the way you want. Its easier for someone to repair a half finished tattoo than a completed one.

So there's alot to consider when you finally decided its time to get that ink that you've been waiting for! But remember.....you want to love it forever, not regret it later!
